“I have been matched with Christian through BBBS since April 2018. He is going into the 8th grade and is involved in choir in his school and also enjoys sports, especially motor sports. During the time that we have been matched, we have done numerous activities, including Royals and Chiefs games and going to the gym as well. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the NHRA races in Topeka, as we saw at least 50 different drag races between, funny cars, classic race cars and even junior racers as well. It was a fun and lively atmosphere and we definitely enjoyed our first time seeing drag races and look forward to doing it again in the future!” Bill

“Blake loves things that go. The faster, the better. Walking into the store.. “race you there!” If you are in the company of his peers you may hear him called “speedy” or “wheels.” Beyond being quick, Blake is also very sharp. His curiosity of how things work and what makes things go is only matched by his abundance of potential.” Kory

“Rafferty is an 11 year old from Shawnee who loves all things motors. He has an extensive collection of Hot Wheels that he’s been collecting his entire life and enjoys test driving cars (riding along of course, he’s only 11 after all) with his Grandma.

You can often find Rafferty setting up mini race tracks through his living room or playing with remote control cars in his backyard.

Rafferty is being raised by his mother (Rachel) and grandmother (Marilyn). He is very close with both of these strong women and they’ve brought him up to be a kind, caring and thoughtful kid.

Rafferty and his I (Jayson), got out to the Kansas Speedway a few hours early for the big Truck Series race Friday night. We walked all around the Speedway and down to the infield courtesy of the Lugnut Foundation. We met several drivers and got autographs from two, the 18 and 34 trucks, who became our favorite drivers of the night.

Rafferty had such a great time he insisted on staying until the very end to watch the final celebration!” Jayson
